Collectible clock?
-
I've been thinking of adding the Kit-Cat Clock, but have been hesitant as it's not really a toy (but has the same aesthetics), but perhaps this means it's ok?
-
I would assume so...they are pretty limited...
-
ermmm sorry, but I don't think clocks belong here...IMHO
-
I don't see a problem with this being on the site.
1. It's limited.
2. It's "Artsy"
3. It's Plastic
4. If Ashley Wood put a clock in one of his figures you would
be fine with it. -

No, I wouldn't! -

"That's also what you can read on must collectable toys; "not for children under 3 years. Intended for adult collectors".
Anythig Metal Gear related is considered to be collectable. Ages 15+. and limited to 2000 plus its hella expensive. Play the game and you'll have a new perspective on GA-KO. -

Oops, got me there! I only played the first version for PS1. But, honestly...don't you think this is considered more like merchandise, than a toy?
-
Honestly...I think it lands right in the middle somewhere. It's a toy with purpose. I'm probably just being bias because I'm a Metal Gear fan...But no one buys it becasue it's a clock, they buy it because it's GA-KO...
-
You really should catch up on the rest of the games...I heard that there may be a movie comming out soon but it could just be a rumor...

I consider "designer toys" to be modern day porcelain statues that are designed and developed to be about the creation of a toy, with the mentality of being a display piece. Not toys based off of property licenses of TV, movies, cartoons, games or any other medium that came before the continued sales of their properties through the toy medium.
In regards to whats on the site, I don't think there can ever be 100% rules for what can or can't be uploaded but seeing toys created from very big properties shouldn't be on here. -
12 years ago
Although this functions as a clock, I actually display this with my other Metal Gear toys in a display case without batteries inside the clock. ;)
I consider this more of a toy than a clock. Since there is the development of a section of this site for toys based off of other IPs, I think we should leave all movie, game, etc based toys on the site until the function to categorize them into this other 'non-designer toy' is implemented. :) -

I have a few of these figures, the quality and detail is really good for such a small piece. I never hesitate to buy a one coin if it's made by Kotobukiya.
-

I have a few of these too. The quallity is well above the standard in 2007 and even hold up very well these days.

Slightly surprised uh huh. Maybe it's because of the financial crises? And this ain't a Ferg x Peters or Kaws for that matter. Who cares? I'm glad you guys convinced me to get one. Eagerly awaiting to hold it.
Oh, and Sil, when it comes to hiding toys from your man, I can tell you that it gets easier the more toys you get. Of course minis easily blend in with the others. And with the big ones I usually just lie about the retail price. *blush* -
13 years ago
Don't get me wrong, I picked it up because I love it, not on the hope it would double in value.
I'm just surprised that a secret base piece limited to 30 units, didn't sell out in 5 minutes.
Guess people don't have the toy budget they used to. I know I'm cutting down, or at least trying to.
Jesus, that makes it sound like a drug habit lol! -
13 years ago
hahaha jazzydan :D oh man, i needed a laugh today! toys are like drugs my dear..they get you addicted very easily and i am sure, everyone on here feels the same as you do.
@ jan, i don't have soooo many toys yet to hide it well and i am very very bad at lying.
and regarded to the surprise, that it is not sold out yet, i wonder, if they even made that release so public and spread the word about it. -

Polite correspondence:
"Hi Jan,
Thank you for your email,
We are very surprised with your answer.
The fact is that we received all the Skulls with protection, and we didn’t open the whole 30 pieces, as we opened a couple of them and everything was perfect.
I’d suggest to send us pics of the details, and we’ll see with Secret Base if we can do something about that.
Sorry about this issue."
Now, I only hope Sil and PP will get flawless ones!!! -

sooooooo...i just picked up my skull head...it has a minor dent on the left side of the forhead, which seems to be something, every single skull head has. and on the back and right side are some bubbles in the vinyl (not on the surface), which might be normal as well.
i am in love with this piece! now i just have to hide it somewhere till my birthday...
i want more skull heads!!!!!!!!!
and you toy, keep us up to date about your sad crying thing. -

i am happy. i just did not expect the dent on the left part of the forehead. i checked pics though and saw, they all have this little dent and a mini dent next to the dent..so enough with the dents.
and i just wrote all this down (bubbles included) to make sure and check on you guys, if i am not wrong with my observation, because you have so many flaws on your skull.
i would love to collect many more of them though, that is for sure! alone the size is impressive, TOY :) -

I love this cat! I have the original version, its so cute!
-
Which one is the "original version" ?
It's my third one and I love it too.
I would like to add this special pink touch on its nose : if someone knows what kind of painting I can use, thanks to tell me ! ;o) -
13 years ago
http://tomopop.com/post.phtml... that one there. (Im pretty sure this was the original release colourway)
There are many versions! Last year I was at wonderfest and saw their stall, so many cats!!! -
13 years ago
Unless my monitor needs to be severely calibrated (and it may), the one pictured on the Tomopop site is one of the Sepia Ver. Teke-chan cats. There were three different releases of the Sepia version (# 15, #16, and unknown #). The original Teke-chan (#1) has a white vinyl body with dark brown points. The sepia version Teke-chan has a cream body.
There are numerous versions of the cats, each with its own name and relationship to other cats. From what I can tell, it looks like they stopped numbering after 27.
The black cat above is #8. She was released as part of a mother, brother, sister (pink nose) trio. -
13 years ago
The one I have is white vinyl. The ones in the image may be a cream?
The cat I have is Teka-chan (Name on the post card packaged with it, sweet draw string packaging)
I believe mine is a re-release as I got it last year and its bell is smaller than images I have seen of its original release. -
13 years ago
Thank you igrrl for your precious informations ! It's difficult to find something about these cats. Do you know how many cats of each color exist ?
-
I really want the ninja one! I think it was released at the wonderfest I went to but had to limit my spending as it was the start of my trip :P
-
Hi Miranda, Yes, it's difficult to find information about these cats. Godzilla-ya's never been forthcoming about production numbers but because they are made by US Toys it's safe to assume that the numbers are low. Thankfully there have been several re-releases but it's mostly the main characters: Teke-chan, Rana, or Suzunosuke.

I've been looking for information on Godzilla ya Canico for the past couple of years but I haven't found anything, so any info would be much appreciated! I bought this one (http://www.flickr.com/photos/...) from Lulubell last year, can anyone tell me what the official name is?
-

I think its name is Pina but I'm not sure. This cat is very cute too, congratulations !
-

Miranda is correct. The name is Pina (#26).

-

I got the Kubrick version of this dude. I have the whole first series of the Kubrick Metal gear 20th anniversary releases. They are neat :)
-
If I ever get around to it I want to add the 20th Ann. collection to the data base. I love Medicom. How much did this end up costing you? If you don't mind me asking.
-
Asking me about the kubricks? I cant remember how much they cost me. I have one of the chase figures, can't remember what one... I left it in its box which is in another box packed away.
-
I was actually asking Ral about this RAH figure. Next time I'll specify. I have the basic set of 5 but I can never find a chase with a price thats suitable for a clear piece of plastic. I did drop a pretty good amount on the Raiden figure from the MGS:2 series, but I feel like that was money well spent because it actually had detail.
-
Hi Genco, I paid for about USD$240 which is reasonably higher than retail considering its rarity. Bought it from a local video game store. I've seen these go for bout 300 on the bay, the re-issues are going at close to retail. I read the difference is just decals from the box.
-
What I read - This limited edition of 500 ones have a 'Wonderfest Camo Limited Edition' decal on the box, they are said to be sold out within 15mins or so at Wonderfest 2005. Re-issues are released in 2010, boxes have the same artworks, just missing the decals.
-
I was thinking about getting the one from BBTS...I've never really been very picky about the whole re-issue deal but I thought BBTS had the originals.
-
Yup, its actually a good deal, considering its 17000 yen retail. Just that I went for the limited issue one bcos I was at Wonder Festival back then & missed it.
-
I'll take that into consideration...If I have any cash to spare I'll definantly take you up on that. Is it sealed or unsealed?
-
Its unsealed, its jus tape at the top & bottom of the box. Makes no diff in values for Medicom RAH (Diesnake.com has this in detail) cos you couldn't tell even if I taped back up. I took it out to display in a glass showcase so expect mint dust free condition. And read Medicom RAH maintenance that its no good for the rubber suit placing it in the box due to moisture & stuffs which will damage the suit in the long run. Let me know.
-
Would either of you be interested in a basic set of MGS:2 Kubricks? I don't have any spare chase figures so it would only be:
Solid Snake
Revolver Ocelot
Olga Gurlukovich
Otacon
Woodland Gurlukovich Soldier
Tiger Stripe Gurlukovich Soldier
It's a $75 set and they are all still sealed in the clear plastic bags, no boxes. I'm down to trade or sell.
