i really like the look and color of this toy!
a simple sculpt with an organic, cute swirly touch, but the mouth of a robot. and those pearl eyes really do it for me! -

Is this a DIY?
Maybe we should have a different section for DIYs?

Almost every toy has white DIY edition and most of them in the library somewhere finding and re-tagging them might be heck of a job.
-
actually, DIY tag could be very useful for artists / customisers.

I wanted this until I saw it up close. It's only half a toy set against a clear plastic frame / case. If it was a whole 3D toy it would be way better.
-
It can be one 3D toy if you have the pink version. They can snap together :D I do like that you have different options on how to display it.

It just makes it way more expensive if you hAve to buy 2. I think it's a bit of a con myself so won't be buying on principal.
-

it is definitely not a marketing trick- to make you buy more. it is a new and quite innovative concept- inspired by asian opera masks.
they can be displayed in pairs, on the shelf and also on the wall. pretty cool -

I got my first one the other day, unfortunately not this lovely owly beauty, but I have to say I think it's a brilliant concept and it's been well executed in the final product :)

There are several ways to display the Omis.
1. Hang on wall. This weblink http://bit.ly/egrvF6 shows each piece on it's acrylic stand. What you can't see in the photos is that the acrylic stand has a small hole so you can hang it on the wall like a picture frame.
2. Make one free-standing figure by joining 2 together. You can snap 2 pieces together and make 1 toy that stands on it's own.
3. Make an "Omi Wall". If you have multiple pieces there's an "Omi Wall" you can buy from Munky King that holds 9 pieces

4. And a single figure can be displayed on it's acrylic stand. -

Finally a vinyl figurine knocked up by artist Picopico! Picopico has chosen Beckos to inaugurate this large format limited series. The artist tells us: "The name 'Beckos' comes from a northern Japanese dialect, meaning 'cow', or horned monster. Beckos and I are close friends. I like his shape, his blue colour and his long tongue like the gods of Papua New-Guinee." This vinyl monster, made in Japan, is now available in a limited series of 80 (1st edition 50, 2nd edition 30). Note: the material used for the tongue is more supple than that used for the body.

they keep bringing more and more of these out.I find the shape and design really bland and uninteresting...
-

I like a few of them, but mainly because I like the character. I still haven't purchased any-- the true test of whether or not you really dig something is whether or not you're willing to shed paper for it.
