anyone knows what's the average price for this? I got him in a trade (can't remember for what) and I might want to sell it, as it doesn't fit my collection very well

I have bearbrick binges :) I wasn't into them initially, but I find them so compellingly odd. They have a very rigid sort of shape and you get all kinds of stuff on them - from these artist patterns to all manner of pop culture icons. I think cramming all these different things on to a bear shape is a little strange and I like it. the main thing for me became the bearbrick shape itself and having widely different ones next to each other.

So after buying 40 blind boxes, getting 3 fragment artist, and 2 Phenom artist randomly (both pretty rare) I have yet to get this. I could scream when I check ebay and the only one for sale is $30 shipped.

I got it blind-boxed it in NY and lost it with a whole bag of toys in a cab in a hechtic night (a bag that included a Dumny I bought directly from Sucklord in his studio :[) and then got it again open-boxed from a window display in a Forbidden Planet in Edinburgh...
fairlyblank, do you have any duplicates from these adventures you might want to sell or trade? -

he is a reviewer, working for a toy blog, as far as I know. that's how :-)
-

its all for exposure, create hype, inform people that normally wouldn't follow your work. Also for me reviews help, especially for colour. Sometimes its very hard to see how vibrant or how well colours blend together from a flat photograph.
I have passed many variants due to the photos then realise how fantastic they are in person.... when they cost so much more T_T -
14 years ago
Hype is such a dirty word and what you said is all true but hype is not what I was referring to.
Mostly I would regard it all as community development and community development is always a good thing, such as this site, its fantastic.
If there wasn't anyone reviewing/talking about colour variants, it would become a bland community, especially in regards to collaborative work.
Also designers are networking whores :P so they love to work with various people such as bloggers/curators/photographers/lion tamers/collectors to expand their network. -

Yeah but hype was only one word I used, my initial post was about how reviewers can help in regards to colour variants. I thought I made it clear when I said I wasn't referring to hype directly. Yet, either way, any exposure creates hype.
I guess I hold community development close to heart; I produce a local rag, run a few design exhibitions and currently trying to up the local interest in designer toys. Every little bit helps!
I don't think reviews are pointless and I don't think the toys would go to waste either. It would be safe to say any toy blogger would be a fan, majority of them do it for free or little pay. Its how they can be a contributor without being a designer. As a blogger it would be fantastic to get a colour variant before anyone else for a report/review.
Personally I don't like or read traditional reviews, I prefer reports, just the facts rather than opinions. Especially regarding colour variants.
I guess we have completely different views on the subject. Its interesting to hear other sides and its good subject to debate on. -

Oh and I do completely agree lesser known designs need the support rather than designs that already have a hold on collectors heart.
