Hey,
Did any of you (except Auryn who speaks a bit Japanese and that doesn't count!) ever try to order from One Up?
They have a couple of cats I MUST have in my collection.
I have already written them an email through the contact link.
But do they understand English? Can I use PayPal?
Any advice would be appreciated :) -
-
All I could find is what you have done already.
It says on the shop site:
International customers are welcome anytime! For international orders, please email us directly. Our email address can be found through the "contact" link.
On Kaiju Korner blog it also said:
If you see something you like, you can send One Up an e-mail to order it. They take Paypal and will ship overseas. -
12 years ago
Yeah, no English. They will use translator software so keep the email very basic. If you can link to pictures, that would be best.
Hello,
May I order:
(item 01)
(item 02)
__________
Good luck! -

LOL! *pout* I hate to not count.
Great, fast EMS Japan service and very Paypal friendly. Highly recommend :) -

Success! :)
"Hi Jan
I am not good at English.
These sentences use the translation system.
I ship worldwide.
"Pay Pal" is the only method of payment.
1.Please transfer it in Japanese yen.
2.Please add 5% of total as a commission of PAYPAL.
3.You must pay the carriage. EMS
4.It is not possible to return goods"
Awesome! Thanks for your kind help, dear Roto friends :) -

I typically try to use a translator like google and write to shops in Japanese, but apologize for my linguistics. Not sure if they really care one way or the other :)

Agent, no wrong! I only use Google translator when I want to upload a Japanese toy to the library.
Instead keep it VERY simple, like CoMus said, it worked for me.
AND they are fucking cheap.
Buy their toys now! -

Nothing wrong with trying to translate (I have done it a few times) but write the same thing in simple English too.
Happy you got what you wanted! OneUp is a sweet store - so many cool things and one off special releases.

It's true of course. Dan taught me all I know about those thumbie tactics, him being the toy-godfather and all.

I can't see any different on that link.
-
the one all the way to the right has a brown hat, and his 'insides' are more yellow/orange-ish. the beak may or may not be a different color as well. i cant tell..
-
Sorry yes I see it now. They might mention it on their blog at some point.
-

i was just wondering, no worries! i asked them about it when i sent over my email to buy this guy. so if they say anything, ill post it here!

-

LOL Dan, I didn't even notice this until you just pointed it out in another post. Shame on me for causing "displeasure" ;)
If the hat just was removable, he'd be PERFECT inside out ^_^
Edit: I also just saw the size... Chima Group, make a 6-7 Incher, please and keep it so smooth. K Thx -

big formal would be awesome.. although not so much for the wallet ;)

Yours is definitely green, and I suppose if you look at the screen at an angle this pic also looks green.
-
coo coo. it honestly doesnt matter to me, i was just wondering.. BTW he does kinda look penis-y now that he's in my hands.. lol
-

:D does it feel good?
-

ROFL :D
Yes, Boxy, tell us! How does it feel? -
Well its sofubi so he's rather soft.. although still firm ;)
The hat reminds me of a lil slice of lime.. but that would be weird now, wouldn't it? -
12 years ago
Thanks for the very live review :P
And fun with food can be fun... -
so i guess all the hats are lime green, just got a reply back from em:
"Yellow hat?
All the hats of Sakura Formal are lime green.
We think that because of the photo adjustment and the PC screen, the yellow color might show lime green." -
12 years ago
soooo, theres a new formal in the chima webshop.. too bad i cant see it!!! >=(
-
What do you mean you can't see it?
-
just that. i cant see it, there is no picture.. sometimes when i go into their shop its just a blank spot where the pic was, you click the blank spot and it takes you a 1x1 pixel image...
i cant see either formal, either wool, a bolo, both tengallons, and two of the amedas.. -
12 years ago
That is very odd.
-
yep. i originally thought they did it when they sold out of a toy (since the first time i saw it was on the sold out seagull formal), but i guess its just me whos having issues!

I have been a sculpture for a while now, but I only sculpted using sculpey and super sculpey. How would one make a sculpture using Resin? Any advice would be grand.
-
They aren't sculpted in resin, they're cast. The basic figure can be made of whatever you want I guess, then you make a negative mold where you pour liquid resin into, which then hardens and voilà – you can make an infinite army of your own toys.

Rotocasted vinyl is still the main thing in the toy world. But be careful if you try with the clear ones. Vinyl drips really look awful: http://rotocasted.com/ToyPunk...

wow, thanks everybody. I think I will give this a try.
-
what is the best paint to use? I am currently using acrylic. Also, been considering investing in a airbrush. Any and all comments will be appriciated
-
acrylic is widely used on vinyls and resin.. try custom toy union or the kidrobot forums for help.. ive been trying to get some the last couple of months and have been unsuccessful =(
-
I have a fondness for resin art toys, I don't know what it is. Maybe the weight, the texture or the way resin holds detail differently to vinyl. If I could start collecting art toys again I think I'd have a particular focus on resin figures. I just love them very, very much...
-
as do i.. really dont unserstand why some vinyl collectors choose to alienate resin. its great stuff!
-
Resin is boss. However, still love my vinyl. I do love the weight of a resin piece, yet I love the feel of a smooth Japanese vinyl piece...I know that sounds erotic, LOL, but you sofubi lovers know what I mean ;)
I am on a paint quest as well. I like a water-based paint for ease of use/clean-up/thinning for a brush. Yet, I am also experimenting with a paint called Mr. Color... a strongly pigmented paint that goes on thin, dries flat... email me if you like we can talk customizing auryndesign@gmail.com -
11 years ago
auryn- for the acrylics i use, i usually use this stuff called 'pink soap'. it cleans and conditions the brush. it gets all the acrylic off and works very well. check it out if you use a lot of acrylic.. i use about a 50/50 of acrylic and 'graff' paint.. that stuff is so harsh on me brushes that i just use my crappy ones and have to dip em in acetone after im done with em..
