I wanted this until I saw it up close. It's only half a toy set against a clear plastic frame / case. If it was a whole 3D toy it would be way better.
-
It can be one 3D toy if you have the pink version. They can snap together :D I do like that you have different options on how to display it.

It just makes it way more expensive if you hAve to buy 2. I think it's a bit of a con myself so won't be buying on principal.
-
it is definitely not a marketing trick- to make you buy more. it is a new and quite innovative concept- inspired by asian opera masks.
they can be displayed in pairs, on the shelf and also on the wall. pretty cool -

I got my first one the other day, unfortunately not this lovely owly beauty, but I have to say I think it's a brilliant concept and it's been well executed in the final product :)

There are several ways to display the Omis.
1. Hang on wall. This weblink http://bit.ly/egrvF6 shows each piece on it's acrylic stand. What you can't see in the photos is that the acrylic stand has a small hole so you can hang it on the wall like a picture frame.
2. Make one free-standing figure by joining 2 together. You can snap 2 pieces together and make 1 toy that stands on it's own.
3. Make an "Omi Wall". If you have multiple pieces there's an "Omi Wall" you can buy from Munky King that holds 9 pieces
http://bit.ly/frd8JY
4. And a single figure can be displayed on it's acrylic stand. -

Due to the popularity and rarity of the rupture dunny, I don't think it is the worst thing in the world. I can definitely understand where you're coming from though..
-
Yup. Still hot.
-
Rupture is kind of a trademark design of Dok A, and it was applied to other figures, not only dunny.
I like it on Android platform, it looks pretty good. -
13 years ago
Rapture really does suite Android! :>
-
yeah, droids suck
but rupture is sweet
yes it took the art out
and rupture still looks good on the platform -

This is a nice design but doesn't really go with my other Dok A pieces that are all neo-Victorian industrial steam-punk designed.

More Mechtorians, please.

Just received a fake one of these from an eBay seller. The paint job is poor and smudged when compared to the genuine article. The Android lettering on the back is less cleanly defined. There are also some subtle differences to the box design. Not happy.

That's just horrible! Sorry to hear this bro!
-
Thanks, no reply from seller...yet.
Aside from the poor paint job, the arms on the fake don't quite match the body and appear slightly glossy, and the seam along the arms is much more obvious. The antenna is also 1mm longer on the fake.
Here are some more pics that could stop other people getting their fingers burnt

I got in on the lottery!!
PS I put QTY as 200 because only 200 will be available for sale. There will be others but you have to work for Google Asia to get it. (I thought Google pulled out of Asia?). -
13 years ago
You can get it in Asia whether you work for Google or not :) but the shops won't ship overseas.
(I won in the lottery too - waiting for email!) -
13 years ago
I'd suspect the Asia ones for sale are not real. Andrew's email said it was employee only and his 200...then again who knows. There sure are A LOT of them on ebay right now. Got mine in the mail today.

Available at Play-Asia.com for $9.99 plus shipping.
Andrew was able to grab around 200 pieces to sell in the United States & Europe, but quantities are more plentiful in Asia. -

btw I paid $7.40 for shipping, so the total was $17.39 which is pretty good considering the listings on Ebay have sold for over $100. Someone paid $158.88 !!!
-

So how many were made in total? Got mine today :)

Kinda disappointed with my Joe Ledbetter "Zodiac" horse figure, is it supposed to have seams, bubbles, and sloppy paint?
Here's what mine looks like:

That looks damn bad :/
Joe Ledbetter said they postponed the release date, because the first patch they got was very bad in quality. How is that better in quality?! -

I'm gonna go for those three I put on my wish list. But they won't hardly stand on their own, so they come with an acrylic display piece?

Love the idea of the Omi Wall, but I don't think there is enough designs I like, to fill one.

I like the ideas of Omi for a custom or a really nice production piece that can be a nice wall feature, but for that I would want a larger size, like 10".
