I called the owner of Toykyo today. They recently told me that they have collectors who purchase every sculpture they make. So i guess they get contacted first. The previous birds were for sale at Toykyo for +-$500 each, Colette sold them for +-$1080 :-s and they were gone in no time. The new birds are $400 each + shipping.
Let me know if you want to buy one, i can call right away. -

Vera, listen, please...I don't have an issue about other people's semi-personal comments. I love them! Sil and I did that, but some people were annoyed. As far as I see it, it makes Roto alive. It's not like the clever comments are standing in queue!!!! Mostly it's just ; "I love this..blah blah".... But the moment people are getting personal, it's all : GET A ROOM! . Roto was meant to connect people, right?
Maybe in the near future Sergey will add a chat room????????? -

I agree, personal comments are interesting and bring a little humanity to the collecting experience.
I wouldn't like to think we are all po-faced collectors just in it for the investment!
These are toys! Let's have fun! :) -

YESSSSSS!! :D
that pic made me smile up to both ears!! smart idea and i gotta say, i love your taste in shoes! i would wear that kind and color of shoe, too...but it seems, like you got tiny feet! lucky girl! -
13 years ago
actually, I am terribly unlucky with shoes :-( I have tiny feet indeed, but not enough tiny for those beautiful red shoes... I just bought them online and unfortunately they are too small. I love them a lot, so they might end up as... display shoes, haha. lesson learnt: never buy shoes online, buy only toys :-)
-
@ penguin: i gotta agree, it looks bigger than i expected as well, but as vera said, she has tiny feet, hence the shoes are tiny, too ;)
@vera: may i ask for your shoe size? your feet might look like baby ones next to a 10 1/5 - 11
and can't you exchange those ones for a size bigger or was that an ebay auction and not an online store??? -
13 years ago
I wear size 36 (european) and yes, it was an eBay auction, no bigger sizes available.
the bird is a bit bigger than I expected too, but well, shoes are small :-D

-

you will not believe what just happened... the shelf where I placed the bird just collapsed, out of the blue. I was the happy owner of the bird for... 48 hours.
(I don't blame my luck, I know it was totally my fault not to secure it properly. I guess I didn't deserved that beauty...)

I love the thing about diversity. I have no feelings for this piece, but other people are ready to pay 400 bucks for it. Now, finally I understand my man, who thinks all my toys are garbage. Obviously it's all about TASTE. I've paid 580 bucks for an insanely rare Coil LP.
Are you ready/ rich enough to get the things you love? -
-

easy question for me: I am not rich enough, but definitely ready enough to get the things I love :-)

I think we kind of exhausted the topic when we talked about the clocks
-
-
hm. I think they are pretty toy-like. Do you consider the Super 7 Datarock figure a toy?
-

Or the Qee with the USB in it? Will that be a toy?

CLOCKS!!! Aarrrghhhh! :)
-
-
I agree with the penguin. I mean, where do we draw the line? Designer erasers?
-
I guess the way I see it, if you can have it on a shelf (with the top on) and it has the artistic value, quality and overall appearance of a designer toy, I don't see the difference. Unlike the clock, the function of these does not interfere with or take over the aesthetics/design.
So if someone made a designer toy eraser, but you couldn't tell it was an eraser by appearance, and it had the integrity of a designer toy, I'm fine with that.
I mean, people consider Jeremy Fish's Barry the Beaver a designer toy, but we all know it has other secret functions... -
13 years ago
If you don't allow clocks, even when their main purpose is not being a clock but display, you shouldn't allow this. Would most people really buy this mainly for its toy qualities and if that's the case, why put a USB-drive inside of it?
-
IMO, i think if you can upload keychains on here you should be able to have clocks and these guys on here as well. to me a keychain is even more useless and this and a clock... i mean atleast you can do something with this thumb drive and your clock!
on another note, i like the colors in this one, wonder how much memory this has, i saw a sket one that only had 512mb on it and chuckled to myself. -
12 years ago
The new ones at Rotofugi are 8 gb. This one is by far my favorite.
-
If designer electronics like flash drives and toy speakers which are designed by many of the same artists who create vinyl, resin figures etc are created in limited runs I don't have a problem with it. I think we have to draw a line yes but if so they are well within those bounds and we shouldn't get all uppity over it, that's my view anyway...
-

Personally we have two mimobots in our household and I think they're the cutest, coolest little things. And functional, useful too...
