Look's like its one of Flawtoys
-
I thought so, too, at one point.
However, upon closer examination, all of the ones that I've seen that are confirmed as FlawToys creations show the arms in a different position (FlawToys' are less bent at the elbow), and with a different contour to the body (FlawToys' has less contour, easily seen by comparing the base of one of theirs to this one).
In addition, I found some of these for sale on a mass-market chinese product site sometime after posting this toy, so am guessing that we will never know the name of the person who actually sculpted the first one, and am second-guessing having ever adding this to the database in the first place. -

If you send me some links of where to buy this I will do some digging and try to find out the sculptor :)

It's not too often that I immediately buy a toy when I see it. But sometimes I do.

Y'all need to get one of these. Even if you don't have any other Sergey toys, this stands on its own. It's pretty brilliant. Apart from the beak, it looks just like a life-size human skull. The Godot series might be my favorite thing in my collection. Absurd art named after an absurd play. Sergey, is "the End of the Man" quoting Jacques Derrida?

Thank you, response for this was so great!
I don't even know who Jacques Derrida is. -

Similar philosophy/time period as Samuel Beckett.
-

Derrida on Rotocasted, well-played, Shankweather! Haven't seen much mention of him since my college days, long, long ago.
Anyway - back to Sergey's extremely well-executed sculpture.
Mine arrived a few days ago, and it exceeded all expectations.
The unglazed bisque was a perfect choice.
It is gorgeous, and yes, it does indeed look like a young human skull (with a beak).
Sergey, thank you so very much for creating this and setting it free in our world! -

Happy to see them landing all over the world. Thank you, guys!
-

Well, I'm not sure if Sergey can do so, but deleting a 100 pieces from your collection isn't that hard, it will only take you a few minutes.
-
Sergey (or another mod) did it already.. and i started with a couple, and it took way too long, id rather make a new acct at that point in time.
i just figured they could wipe it clean fairly easily.. thanks sergey, much appreciated!! (or the other mod who did it!!) -

For some reason I didn't get those GS emails, but I spent healthy 5 minutes erasing your collection from the regular interface.
No problem. -
oh, very sorry you had to do it indivually.. if i would have known, i would have just made a new acct! i just figured you guys had some sort of tool that could essentially erase my account.
anyways, i saw your reply on GS.. i chose to sell all of my collection (aside from my formals and two melt monsters), so i could continue to fund my very expensive moutain bike habbit.. if you think toys are expensive, try building a bicycle thats twice the cost of your flippin car!
thanks again Sergey, this place is the best =) -

Would if i could afford it right now.... but got about a million other money prioritys, it'll be months before i can even consider this.

I just popped in to say just how much I am still digging this sculpture. I held it in my hands for a bit yesterday, just staring at it and feeling the texture. This remains one of my most treasured items in my collection, and I'm extremely happy and incredibly lucky to be the custodian of it. Still very well-done, sir, thank you once again for sharing it with the world.

so awesome those clear ones with the tooth being brain like visible in the head!
thanks for the further explanation on the opaque version of this, Spungee :) -
12 years ago
sure thing! glad to help. i am so happy to have this particular version on the way to me. i'd say it's my favorite of the 4 released so far, but they are all my favorite in one way or another!

I'm attracted to this. Keep returning to checking out details in the pic. Probably should pull the trigger...
Spungee, is it worth it? -
yes, yes, and yes! i was like that with the first dorotabo that i purchased - took me forever to pull the trigger. a day after purchasing him, i was in love. watch out for the tips of his claws, though, they're sharp (well, sharp for sofubi, anyway, ha)!

fun fact: there is a real human tooth inside of this guy.
-
Oooh how exciting! let me guess, where the tooth is located.
i assume it is under his right hand and would be one of the grinder teeth? -
12 years ago
I love it because it seems to be a kind of creepy tree, a strange green and bloody thing ; but I'm not fan of the tooth. It's like vaudoo, this piece of a human being... too much unwholesome for me ! ;o(
-
the tooth is actually located inside the torso - the top half of the figure separates from the lower half. it looks like it's a molar.
-
ha molar is the word for the kind of tooth i meant. i used an online translator for "Backenzahn" and grinder tooth came out.
do you know, who's tooth that actually is and what meaning it has inside of this figure? is the slender man something "scary" like the boogieman or an evil tooth fairy? -
12 years ago
i don't know who the teeth come from, but i seem to recall someone telling me that she was assured that they were legitimately purchased by the artist.
he is indeed something scary, not a friendly character. as for the meaning of the tooth itself, i am not sure. but you can read more about the Slender Man at Kaiju Korner: http://kaijukorner.blogspot.c... />
Another fun fact: the latest release of Slender Man, as well as the upcoming next release, both have the tooth inside the head (instead of the torso as it is in this release and the second version). I don't know why it has been relocated, though. It may have to do with the clear vinyl that the two newer ones are cast in.

seems they put this guy on sale early, and i missed out. i would gladly have paid double the asking price for this one, even! if anyone out there purchased one just to sell, please contact me - i'm buyin'!
-
Yes, they did. On one hour early. On 5:12 pm arms were already sold out. I wrote on fugi.me and RI about this shit. They haven't answered yet.
It seems like someone used insider information... -
12 years ago
I think you may have done your time conversion incorrectly, they went on sale at precisely 6:00pm GMT, and the last green hand didn't sell out till 6:30pm GMT. Don't worry there will be more colours in the future.
-
It was the first thing that I thought about. So I immediately checked the time on wwp.greenwichmeantime.com. The time was 5 pm.
Other colors is ok. But I think you understand that the first release are more interesting. ) -
12 years ago
In the UK our clocks went forward one hour the other week, so even though it says on that site it's 7.18pm right this second, in the UK it's 8.18.
-
Thanks Jen
-
jenX, you made mistake. Look. The sale must be start at 6 pm GMT. Not local London time. It's important. Info on all sites (RI's facebook for example) talk about GMT. Not London time. In London (and in whole UK I suppose) now is summer time, so time zone for UK is GMT+1. I think people on fugi.me start sale at local time. And this is wrong. Info was about GMT, not GMT+1.
-
Ok sorry, I didn't see the GMT as I ignore that on UK listings, oops.
-
Seems he is correct, we are currently in BST not GMT, thats a new one for me. My bad, will correct for the next release. Follow the fugi.me twitter feed @fugi_me we count down to the releases on there. Seems only about 50% of the sales were UK, so most people must have sussed it.
-
OH NO! :(
this sucks so much! i was looking forward on getting one! -
12 years ago
Yeah, I was 4 minutes late and they were all already sold out :(
-
Don't worry plenty more The Rising and fugi.me action coming real soon. As well as D-Con and Toy-Con-UK exclusives.
-
Dan, it's not the same. WE WANT THEM ALL!
;) -
Haha, yeah, you can't just have one!
-

i can't believe i still haven't seen one of these pop up in the aftermarket. mister jazzydan, please make more! :)

I feel like it would make more sense to give Jeremi the artist credit and just keep retroband and iamscumbag as the manufacturer and sculptor respectively
