From a comment on NEVERCREW's Behance's SluggyP page: "NEVERCREW: Hi there! Thank you for appreciating our "Sluggy P"! For Den Kazarov: yes we know that the price could be high, but this is because of the work process to create it, the time and the materials (and it is also a limited series 50 & 50 pieces). At the moment we're working on another series with different materials and process and the idea is to make it more cheap! :-) "
£130 is actually a reasonable price.Remember that it has to be sculpted, moulded, cast, seamed, painted ,flocked and then packed. All by hand, probably by one person. Silicone is not cheap, nor is resin. Flocking guns are pretty expensive, and the flocking itself can also be pricey as you usually have to buy it in bulk.So labour plus material costs can easily add up.Plus of course ,the artist would like to make a profit! :)
Yes Ms SillyK, I just thought a word about how much it actually costs an artist to make these things would be appropriate. I'm not saying that £130 is not a lot of money, but for a hand made limited edition, non mass-produced peice of art it is actually pretty good value. I'm speaking as a fellow sculptor and toy maker. :)
Its very true, most people dont consider it. Having said that, when I'm buying a toy my main concern is wether or not i can afford it.I understand people thinking they are expensive, but thats just life! I like your owls btw :)

I love these, but the price seems a bit high for a 4" resin piece.

Good point Mr. Walrus. Maybe it was the flocking.

Yup, I guess the flocking might really be then that expensive.
Maybe someone with real knowledge of these things could comment on that? Would be interesting to know.

i am actually glad, you brought this topic back up!
it really seems, like the time effort, mass produced vs handmade toys and material costs don't often get considered by everyone.
