These are awesome...been meaning to buy a Beat Bea for the longest time, but now I can't decide if I'd want the OG or this SDCC Purple colorway!
-

Jim also did a run of custom beat bees: http://foodoneart.blogspot.co... />http://www.taintedvisionsart.com/Beat_Bee_Custom_Painted_Resin_Figure_Jim_Mahfood_p/beatbeecustom.htm
$124.95 is quite the price though! -

15816 was a one-off painted prototype. This red one was the original factory prototype; Jeff and Walter have the only two. I would be interested to know what color 15816 was before it was painted. Which officially makes me a Greasebat nerd.
-

:) cool, thats what i was curious about, and yup, that does make you a nerd ;) now someone answer shanks question!!
-
13 years ago
Generally 2 test pulls/prototypes are made.... so I would say the painted one is either a white or another red from the test pulls?
Interesting stuff! -

@Shankweather
Hey! Original prototype or master was made with supersculpey firm and soft ( the pink and the grey one) so the color was a mix of that... saying that i dont recommend sculpey to make the master sculpt for production toys... ( i did same mistake again with Gary Ham next toy)
here some pics on the original color before the scales

@Chauskoskis thanks for the info, i love that it's possible to get so much background info on here :)
-

@MisterQuiche
yeah indeed is nice to see this kind of threads
:) -

Chauskoskis is correct, this is the first test pull/ vinyl prototype. It's sort of a washed out red color in real life. Only two made.

This isn't Platoon 1, but is part of the broader Death Climax series.
This figure is listed as #2 AZ(blue eyes) there is also a #1 AZ which has red eyes but is otherwise identical.
Only the captain in Platoon 1 had silver limbs and a GID head, but his gun, whilst blue is only a 'pistol style' -
http://rotocasted.com/toy/25528/
The other four figures that make up Platoon 1 have gold limbs and black heads with red eyes/grey hair or blue eyes/brown hair and the two 'rifle style' guns are pink rather than blue.

I saw this set pre painting & i gotta say they even looked awesome in all pure white. Needless to say they all sold to mailing list folks so were gone pre actual release! and wait till you see sets 2,3 & 4. I have also seen these in white and wowsers, some ace sculpts
