I held this in my hands in Portland. Oh, and both Keiko and Kaori were sitting on a nearby shelf. I thought, "I can buy something better with my money." Turns out I was wrong. Worst 3 mistakes of my toy collecting life. :)

There's one on the Bay right now!
-
Yup. Saw it and passed. I always have a problem with buying something for nearly twice it was originally. Not that values don't appreciate. It's the bank account that has a problem. :)

Nice, but too expensive for a 6" toy with an edition of 300.

Kozik has so much awesomeness and everytime he reuses one his designs like this... it just make me think why...
-
he's a marketing man, not an artist, is that simple

...And his collection is a killer.
-
Kozik is a gateway toy, you start collecting his stuff, and before you know it your collecting something else.
-
before you trash kozik see who he is in the artworld. i can see if you don't collect his toys but saying he isn't an artist is absolutely ridiculous. He's done TONS for the art AND toy world AND music/art world.
-
I like Kozik, he's a legend. I like repetition of designs as art also. But its just pure saturation with his stuff now. Kinda killed it for me.
-
Many pages of his work kinda says something about the demand he has
-
The first time I saw anything Kozik was on a postcard in a Wham! store. Just a bunny with 5 o'clock shadow and a cigarette in its mouth. My friend and I laughed so hard when we saw it.

A one off piece I made for the handmade toy swap on SMYV.
Has a glossy wet look with clear resin water droplets. -

They are all pretty cool. Why so expensive? :( It's a rhetorical question.
-
Just curious which ones you're talking about? This isn't even for sale :) I don't think any of my stuff is expensive!
-
i was wondering that too...
Jazzy, in your wishlist eh. still time to make something for the swap and stand a shot a getting this ;) -
13 years ago
I find it surprising that many pieces are so cheap (in the general community) compared to the hours and materials put into their pieces.
-
Here here. surprisingly the hand made / small run ones are cheaper than the more mass produced big business ones. Perhaps the artists under value their work or they just ask for what it actually costs, cutting out the middle men? personally i dont mind, my preference is always to buy direct from the artist if possible.
-
For me personally, I hate to have stuff hanging around. I make so many pieces that unless I price them well I'd run out of storage space.
I don't even want to think about the time factor and how little I'm getting per hour! -
13 years ago
DMS I have an awesome idea for your next release, I'll email you :)
-
Now I'm intrigued mate!
-
I stand corrected, and I extend my apologies, DMS. My comment was naive, and it is no excuse, but I think I thought you designed some other toys that I found to be out of my price range....

So, humble foot pie. All up in my grill. -
13 years ago
I wouldn't call Cris Rose's toys expensive either. When you consider the cost of materials, and the time and effort that goes into them, Bargain! The fact they all sell out in minutes backs that up. Plus the designs are often far better than most production toys.

I thought it was a Vampire Rose knock-off at first.
-
You are not alone, I thought it was a custom rose at first!
The feet do it for me :)
I would like to see a clear version of this with the flames painted on the inside.

Apparently this particular Spacebot is so damn rare, that it is IMPOSSIBLE to find any pictures on the web.
ELJEFE313, would you mind snapping a little shot of it and send it to me, please? And I'll update this toy in a sec :)

Thanks Q. Can't really decide which is better. I think the one ELJEFE313 sent me is a little sharper in contrast, but yours is super cool too.
Let's try ELJEFE313's, if we aren't all happy, I kept yours and we'll swap. :) -

Series should be: Spacebot Series 1
This goes for all of the Spacebots incorrectly labelled Issue: Series 1 -
13 years ago
The problem with doing that is that on search the spacebots don't show up together on one page. Having the issue as 'series 1' and 'series 2' then separates them but keeps them together.
-
Linx, we are agree-friends on this. It's nice having all the spacebots show up together. There are many series that are annoying to search for on rotocasted because I can't get them all on the same page.
@ PlasticPlanet, you mean to point out the difference between the series of the figure and the issue, right? For example, the Toasted Marshalls at being sold at Rotofugi this spring are a second issue of the same toy, not a second series. -

Yeah that's right.... Ideally there should be a field like 'Platform Style' ie:
Platform: Qee
Platform Style: Qee Spacebot
Series: Spacebot Series 1
Issue: 5000 (for instance)
