cool custom, nice sprayjob, and good mixing of charecters. This is a pretty dope piece.
-
Yeah, this custom is rad! Kirkland made a great job with this one.
I'm so happy I was able to snatch it.
Also, Mark Nagata's custom - http://rotocasted.com/toy/8502/ is awesome. But it was sold out at the opening. :(

Great toy by flying fortress!! really awesome!! It took a long time before somebody wanted to pay the 150 euro´s on rockawaybear...
-
It's an amazing toy! And it was a must have for me – a figure by two of my most favorite artists. :)

Buff Monster is really rocking it!
After seeing this, and a lot of his other new pieces, I really wanna start collecting his work!
I must buy a padlock for my wallet!! -

I'm still trying to convince myself I'm not gonna buy this. But look, so beautiful! Embrace the Darkness!!!

This figure is a MUST! (for me :)
And the price ($85) is actually very fair for a figure such size. -
14 years ago
I love the little monster oozing out of the side of the figure. Can't really see it on this photo, but check out the side photo – http://bit.ly/bm9suh

Embrace the debts LOL! your not wrong!!
It is a fantastic price, especially when compared to Jleds over priced releases on the loyal subjects!
Bet shipping to the UK will spoil that though!! -

This is hands down my favorite Buff Monster piece!
Is the quantity of 399 a play on the dark theme, or is it just coincidence? -
-
TLS rocks! Love what they're doing.
They manage to get great artists, and produce very nice toys.
@antifaucetwater What about 399? -
is anyone reminded of the O-No Sushi figure when they look at this? When I first saw a pic of it I thought it was a custom Sushi...
-
Not really... There's some very basic resemblance, but only if you look at the front side of "The Destroyer". From the side and back it doesn't resemble O-No Sushi at all.

@vadimt I thought 399 was considered an 'evil' number?
-
-
@antifaucetwater 666 is considered "the number of the beast".
Never heard that 399 is also "evil" :) -
Thats it I have to have one!! I'm gonna be spending the day listing stuff on ebay!
-
In the Bag!! Awesome!!
Just FYI, UK shipping from Loyal Subjects is pricey, shipping was half the price of the toy again. However, it gets really affordable if you buy multiple toys, comes down further and further the more you order.
So it may be worth clubbing in with friends and doing a big order to the UK.
Just a thought. -
I normally wait till I actually have the toy in my cabinet.
Anyone know when these do actually ship? -
14 years ago
WOW only $85 for a 14 inch !! thats awesome! Not really my style so I will give this one a pass but what a good grab.
-
this is so heat that it needs 'I HAVE PREORDERED THIS TOY' button:D
-
Vadim when did you bought it?!?!?!?
-
I have ordered 2, I'm gonna put one either side of my desk at work, and anyone who wants to speak to me will have to address the destroyers first!!
-
where will the future colorways go? you will have no room to work on your desk! :P
-
@Buri - I haven't bought it yet. It's still on my wishlist :)
-
mmmmmmm colourways, I'll have a rainbow of desk destroyers, hopefully with all different cheeky slogans on there backs, "ride the serpant"
-
@fliphappy LOL sorry I missed your rant while I was sleeping :P if colorways work for a design why not? they made a mold and try many ways to get the most out of the investment. A set of colorways that I hate is the lazy iterations of the unpainted Bossy Bear family. S7 can bring out all the different colorways but does it annoy you because you want to get them all? Simplest way to vote is not buying :)
Finally with mucho love for the Destroyer voiced here, I personally prefer the boobie shaped figures instead of this. I would have loved it more if it hasn't got arms and legs. Feels like they were added on so that he can stand up? -
14 years ago
Doc said "Boobie", snigger!
-
@doc18 You do have a boobe shaped figure with the Destroyer – it's oozing from its side :)
And about the legs – Buff has already done Kaiju figure without legs – http://rotocasted.com/toy/7028/ -
14 years ago
@jazzydan I always associate Buffmonster with boobies especially love his bodypainting ;)
@vadimt I have the original clear version of the Demon Seed (http://rotocasted.com/toy/3961/) and I prefer his figures legless. Simply a person taste, I can't even make sense of it myself :P -
14 years ago
Note to self "Buff Monster Body Painting" isn't an appropriate google search for in the office!

Anyone captured pictures of the poor manufacturing? I want to get one but it sounds kinda nasty
-
Cool, in that case I will be waiting for another colour variant. I am sure I missed out for this one (not a fan of the colour anyway) and can't be bothered trying to get the Dcon version :P
I gather they will do more. -
I also fear the shipping costs :P
-

There are some stores still carrying it for the original price.
-

-
Wow. Well done, kind of :P
-
What do you do with the boxes? They take SO much space!
-
There in my loft, the loft is full, so I guess no more toys :(
-
Agreed. I still live at home, I've started piling the larger boxes on top of my wardrobe. I've got a case full of flattened boxes.
-
Do you guys even keep all the little trading figure boxes?
-
I keep the vast majority of my boxes, I'm not sure why though. That might have to change.
-
I do... I don't know how many flattened Jumping Brain and Qee boxes I have stored away.
-
What Jazzydan just said - 'I'm not sure why though' :)
-
I'll eventually have to reconsider keeping the boxes if I don't stop buying toys or if I don't move to a bigger place. I keep all boxes, and I have well over 600 toys, including several big items such as 1000% Bearbricks...

Another amazing design from Jled.
But unfortunately it comes with another ridiculous price tag to match!
I'm thinking of removing him from my collection if he keeps increasing his prices like this. -
14 years ago
Does JLed pay homage to the cartoon "Ice Age" ? Or it's only my feeling ? Sabertooth + mammoth... where is the exasperating sloth ? ^^
-
How ridiculous is the price tag? I'm intrigued :)
-
The set is limited to 415 units and will retail between $155.00-$165.00USD. Available Mid Fall. Pre-orders will start July 7th, 2010.

Ooft. Working out at over £100... I think I'll stick to building up my Qee collection first :)
-

Exactly what I was thinking, and the delivery costs will be epic, unless you find a UK stockist.
I have a truck load of Qee's for trade/sale if your interested. Been accumulating a big box of doubles in my mission to collect them all! -
14 years ago
Haha a lot of people are saying this is an Ice Age ripoff. I like the figure, especially the size, but JLED doesn't score any creative points for this one.
-

@Miranda "exasperating sloth," what an apt description.

Is this a clear red vinyl or is that some awesome red chrome paint on its face?
-
I believe it's a clear red vinyl spray painted.
This figure is rad! I missed on other Mongolions, but this one is a must-have! -
14 years ago
It is clear red vinyl. It's meant to compliment the Burning Anger Stomp, and is traditional Chinese colors of red, gold and teal.

Not just that I love labbits, but I don't have a problem with a mini platform toy getting as reinterpreted as possible.. isn't that the point? It's like asking why Dunnys need to keep coming out. What annoys me (and feels wrong) is when large $100 figures get 10 different paint jobs for no reason but to re-sell again at every show.
I personally hope there are a thousand mini labbits before they're retired. But if they did that in the 10" version, to me that would be too much.
I do get that it makes them harder to find, but that's the point exactly.. remember these are limited editions (for real as in theyre just not reprinted) - so what are new fans and kids supposed to do without new labbits? Without new labbits or dunnys there's no way for new collectors to find anything.
Plus your name is still flip-happy, so ... maybe they're not flippable enough for you? -
14 years ago
@fliphappy
Usually you can get these labbit packs for about $10 on eBay some time after the initial release. So it ends up being ~$2 for one.
And with mini labbits you can never get enough! It's addictive! :) -
14 years ago
They are addictive, I picked up 4 from Kidrobot London on Saturday, and now I want them all!! Gonna grab another 4 when I go to the Tado signing on Thursday!! woot!
This set in particular is very cool!

I always thought the boat on this looks like it was inspired by Russian constructivism and the figure a minimalist take on Cthulhu, but of course thoroughly Sergey Safonovifed and made his own...

Already read it in the past. Awesome review!
I especially agree with this part:
"In a realm filled with candy-pop colored character figures and forms, with genres ranging from zen-designer, to urban-style, to the extreme angsty characters, Moon Cat (and Moon Fox) stand out from the rest, with it's sheer subtle silence and serenity not often seen in toys" -

His figures seem peaceful, serene and gentle almost as if they're in a deep state of meditation. And in psychological terms the ocean does stand for the unconscious mind, as does the night. Hmm...
