hmm. it is a big chunk of money, but i find it very reasonable for a self produced quality figure at this size.
it looks flawless and there is no single bubble in the clear cast, so i assume vacuum and pressure casting was used here. -
11 years ago
I guess for what you're getting the money seems about right. And i agree that clear resin looks perfect.
-
I've seen this figure at a local show. It looks absolutely incredible in person, and the artist is a super nice guy to boot. Definitely worth the price fo a large, independently-made, unique figure with clear resin and a great concept.
-
How big does it look in person, is it quite substantial?
-
Yeah, it's pretty solid. 7" is large for an independently produced toy, and this one is pretty wide as well. There are larger toys out there, but not a lot that are self-produced.
This maybe does not give a great idea of the size, but here is a cool angle https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.aka... -
11 years ago
Yeah was thinking it might look pretty wide considering it 7" high. Looks great.

Cool creatures :) -

I am breeding those turtles professionally! they help me with the "reproduction", you know ;)
Thanks btw :)
this is actually a project, which was commissioned by a car crew. It's their mascot. -

Oh, yes! There is Good and there is Evil and Evil must be punished ;))

Yes they will go very well together.
-
(assuming you did it) thanks for putting this guy up. still cant see it in their shop, so this helps out a lot.
i still sent them an email and am gonna pic him up. even though i gotta get rid of all my toys the formals are staying. he's too much of a gent to ship him off somewhere else! -
11 years ago
Yes I added in the new ones. I've got to get the tengallon.
I'm happy to hear your Formals are staying and breeding :) -
11 years ago
'breeding'... hahahahaaaa. yes, lets call it 'breeding' ;)
that new tengallon is awesome as well! -
im assuming no one else has one of these guys? got mine in yesterday and hes got a defect on the hat =( i hope chima lets me exchange it..
also, MODS, anyway you can clear my whole collection of the toys i 'have'.. im in the process of selling my whole collection to get back into riding/racing and am only keeping my formals.. i figured it would be easier to mark the formals, than to mark a 100 other toys that i dont have anymore.. -
11 years ago
What type of defect?
-
kinda hard to see since i took it on my phone late last night:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8137/8701674499_ab41a1b8d1_z.jpg
basically it looks like someone tired to grind something off and took too much off, its an actual flat spot.. stuff like this doesnt usually bother me, but these are the only toys im keeping out of my collection, so i pretty much want these guys defect free... -
11 years ago
Ahh I know exactly what that is - essentially that isn't a defect, that is how it is made; a result of the manufacturing technique.
It is a flow channel to assist in pouring the vinyl and to release air bubbles. It is cut off when the figure is put together.
You will find this on all sofubi, on smaller pieces it is harder to hide. Grab any sofubi and you will find this on the joints, mostly visible on the male joint.
My two Formals are the same - I didn't actually notice at all till you posted this. The reason why I didn’t notice is because the hat on both of my figures is positioned so the joint is around the back. Due to the angle, it hides the ‘defect' unless I hold the figure upside down.
If you twist the hat around so the channel is at the back, it will not be visible.
I twisted my hat around like yours, it isn't pleasant at all. The fact that the 'defects' get hidden completely when positioned correctly shows the intelligence in the design.
The only fault with your figure is the hat wasn't positioned correctly when shipped. So twist the hat around and problem solved.
Have you emailed them yet? It might be hard for them to explain back in English.
Note: I would recommend lightly softening the vinyl before twisting around the hat with a hair dryer - it will make it a bit easier as it is a tight joint fit. -

thanks for the tip dude. i woke up, read this, and rotated his hat.. no need to send back to japan now =)
-

Brilliant :D
Hope you are happy with it like that. I know little things continue to bug me even if they are not considered problems.

I'm very interested how people are feeling this new release form COarse :) I love it !
-
Awful! I don't know what's gone on with the 'new wave' of Coarse stuff but it made me start to sell my coarse collection off as I couldn't further it anymore without having multiples of the same thing. I've gone from 12 pieces to 4 pieces I was really excited to see new things and I think its all dreadful... In my humble opinion of course ;)

Hmm, I agree on the owl and snail release, but this actually gave me the good felling back and I think it will be looking awesome next to my PAW's
-
My only complaint is the colors. Wish Coarse would have continued with the new colorways from Souls Gone Mad instead of repeating those from the PAW. I think the Omen is a fantastic sculpt and a refreshing new direction for Coarse.

I agree with gregm. I would like them to stick with the new theme and not backpedal. I love their new stuff. I feel they continue to grow and get better.

Hey,
Did any of you (except Auryn who speaks a bit Japanese and that doesn't count!) ever try to order from One Up?
They have a couple of cats I MUST have in my collection.
I have already written them an email through the contact link.
But do they understand English? Can I use PayPal?
Any advice would be appreciated :) -
All I could find is what you have done already.
It says on the shop site:
International customers are welcome anytime! For international orders, please email us directly. Our email address can be found through the "contact" link.
On Kaiju Korner blog it also said:
If you see something you like, you can send One Up an e-mail to order it. They take Paypal and will ship overseas. -
11 years ago
Yeah, no English. They will use translator software so keep the email very basic. If you can link to pictures, that would be best.
Hello,
May I order:
(item 01)
(item 02)
__________
Good luck! -

LOL! *pout* I hate to not count.

"Pay Pal" is the only method of payment.
1.Please transfer it in Japanese yen.
2.Please add 5% of total as a commission of PAYPAL.
3.You must pay the carriage. EMS
4.It is not possible to return goods"
Awesome! Thanks for your kind help, dear Roto friends :) -

I typically try to use a translator like google and write to shops in Japanese, but apologize for my linguistics. Not sure if they really care one way or the other :)

Agent, no wrong! I only use Google translator when I want to upload a Japanese toy to the library.
Instead keep it VERY simple, like CoMus said, it worked for me.
AND they are fucking cheap.
Buy their toys now! -
Nothing wrong with trying to translate (I have done it a few times) but write the same thing in simple English too.
Happy you got what you wanted! OneUp is a sweet store - so many cool things and one off special releases.
