SB: "This figure was painted for the looks and was not painted as we normally paint soft vinyl figures. This figure is painted chrome on a soft vinyl base, but the paint itself is not meant for soft vinyl surfaces. On the surface of these figures, there is a possibility that there will be cracks or even paint peeled. But we have painted these figures as best as we can to make it look as clean as possible. I dunno about "below par". There are marks on the surface but that is going to happen when you try to meld chrome with a vinyl surface. They are pretty incompatible materials. As long as you take care and understand this before going in the figure is pretty damn cool. There is a "chrome" effect paint out there that is amazing looking but it is extremely exotic and ridiculously expensive. It looked amazing on a BMW M3 but isn't cost effective for small figures like these unfortunately.

I dunno, If I paid the price these were, I'd want a toy where the paint isn't going to flake off everytime it took a knock.

It doesn't flake. If I had to describe it I would almost say it crackles kind of like certain types of pottery glazes. If you dig a fingernail into it then yes you can take out a chunk but otherwise you just get these super fine hairline fractures in the paint.

Why exactly does it seem like collectors just stopped on a dime with JLED toys? I kind of like this piece. Too much money? Too much saturation?

Define 'stopped on a dime' please? :) I think too many variations are been done of the same toys, it's unoriginal and bloody annoying!

    Color tag issue:
in order to keep the Color tag functional, it is really recommended to "Just add one solid color or leave blank", as indicated by Sergey.
when adding a colored toy that is CLEAR or GID, you should only write the color in the color field, not "Clear pink" or "GID pink".
Clear or GID are rather features of "material", not color, so you can write "clear vinyl" in the "Material" field.
exceptions: clear or GID toys that have no colors (transparent or white-yellow-ish) can have "clear" or GID as color tags, as long as it is "one word only"
    Does this makes sense?

  • sergeySafonov angel

Make sense. There's several toys that have "GID Color" type of tag, but I guess they might be changed just to GID.
