I'd like to know what this is made of? :)

The hair is felt and fabric- I think the sculpts are vinyl over plastic 1/6 body?
I have this figure, love it- but really want SEXY KEIKO, the resin sculpture. If anyone wants to trade, lets figure it out! -

Not just that I love labbits, but I don't have a problem with a mini platform toy getting as reinterpreted as possible.. isn't that the point? It's like asking why Dunnys need to keep coming out. What annoys me (and feels wrong) is when large $100 figures get 10 different paint jobs for no reason but to re-sell again at every show.
I personally hope there are a thousand mini labbits before they're retired. But if they did that in the 10" version, to me that would be too much.
I do get that it makes them harder to find, but that's the point exactly.. remember these are limited editions (for real as in theyre just not reprinted) - so what are new fans and kids supposed to do without new labbits? Without new labbits or dunnys there's no way for new collectors to find anything.
Plus your name is still flip-happy, so ... maybe they're not flippable enough for you? -
14 years ago
@fliphappy
Usually you can get these labbit packs for about $10 on eBay some time after the initial release. So it ends up being ~$2 for one.
And with mini labbits you can never get enough! It's addictive! :) -
14 years ago
They are addictive, I picked up 4 from Kidrobot London on Saturday, and now I want them all!! Gonna grab another 4 when I go to the Tado signing on Thursday!! woot!
This set in particular is very cool!

I just listed one of these in my amazon bookstore (in addition to toys, I also collect books and this is where I sell off some of them).
I also added more pics, becuase this is way more gorgeous than the above pic suggests.

Is it a custom?
-
Yeah, any more info on this would be apprieciated. This is lovely.
-
I agree this is amazing, but .... this is a problem I have with the roto site-
Why are customs part of the regular toy database? I think it would be great to have them here but as a separate custom gallery, but it seems really confusing (and sometimes unfair) for them to be mixed in - because only 1 collector will ever be in the 'I own this' category and so many times something is shown here that is like a holy grail, only until people realize that it's a custom.
And further to that, wouldn't it be great if the custom pieces had a few extra fields that could be filled in with the artist's info and links to their work/websites?
That would make this the great rotocasted even greater!!! :) -
14 years ago
great suggestion! a separate custom section would be great.
-
aren't the guys already working on this?
-
@Danimal this isn't a custom. However, I think your idea is fabulous and I'm guessing (hoping) they're working on it.

Just got mine - it is GORGEOUS. Put it up to the light and it's like a whole new kind of vinyl... And the blue/pink liquid erosion is great too...
-

Wow. Beautiful! Did anyone notice that his eyes, claws and teeth glow reddish-orange rather than the ususal green? Super touch and great detail.

Is this the only chase in series 2?
-
So that's the chase! It's so weird that this one and the turtle shell are the most rare-- others are more impressive. If anyone pulls this and wants to sell or trade, let me know-- only missing it and the GOLD from series 1 (I need this!)..!
-
Couldn't agree more, the chase is probably the least impressive in the set!!
-
There's also the GID skeleton. I'm posting a picture. There was a GID from the first series that I'm dying for - if anyone has for sell or trade, LMK.

This is a disappointing chase. For the folks who argue that it's all about the "thrill of the chase," the toy you're chasing should be worth it.
Not sure if I'll hang onto it for completion sake, or if I'd trade somebody for an uncommon one I don't already have. -
14 years ago
I definitely agree that this is one of, if not the most disappointing design in the series. The 1/30 circuit woulda made a better chase. But at least I have one now! :D
-

I think this little guy is awesome! For those of you who find him disappointing, send him my way, I'm DYING to get him!

Saw a show he had here in NYC. This little fellow was in the show. Dreaming of one day owning this.
-
wasn't this around $1000 or $2000 retail?
-
Around USD 1,000. It's now a hefty price for a toy, but considering one of his paintings sold for USD 750,000... I still regret not getting the Jeff Koons puppy vase for USD 300 when it was released, and now it's about USD 12,000, or more.
-

What it made of? Resin? How tall is it?
-

plastic
Heuu ... 12 inch -

It can make bubble !! crazy
I have also a priest communion (resin)
http://markgonzalesthepriest.blogspot.com/ -
14 years ago
They are plastic - very plastic - because there's a serious old-school motor inside that drives both the arm that moves up and down out of the bubble-cup, and a compressor that blows air through his mouth. It is LOUD and smells like burnt oil but it is an awesome piece. I want a resin one though...
