@sillyK - I added this toy to Trampt, someone asked where I got the image & I said I pinched it from here (mentioned im a bad man - in jest) Keegan also in jest noted that there is a crossover in entries. All was lighthearted, we are all aware of symbiosis. I am a Mod / admin on both sites, primarily because I am active on both sites, no conspiricy! I assume jan is being light hearted too, this is a small community :)

seriosly Jan? ok fine, i guess goodbye roto, pity, its nice here, usually none of this kind of grief. I do not have to defend myself, kinda makes me sad that you can find the time to research my online habbits, personally i dont care what you do on other sites. Conversation over. Thanks to Roto for a real fun time, loads of lovely people and a lot of chuckles. keep it happy everyone :)

anyone who is a member here can contact Sergey & offer to help out, there is not a set number of 'Mod' spots, to the best of my knowledge. U can add to the library without being a 'Mod' the mod role is helping to remove duplicates & update incorrect fields. my mod role on the other site is with connection to my willingness to help with the upcoming forum features. My 'Rep' number there makes no difference to me, most of it was gained before this was even a visible feature & most of the items I have added there are art prints / OG art. I did note you added the blox here, in fairness I am not 'obliged' to do anything, this is a hobby. (as a side FYI, my understanding is the rep thing would go towards future comps there, which I have already opted out of so making it of zero importance) We're all good Jan, no worries

oh, now i slowly get it. i am not a member on this webpage called trampt, never even heard of it. thank you for explaining a bit, Mister Q. and Toy.
butttttttt.... if i can be honest, i really don't like the tone of this conversation/discussion among you guys :(
though, i am glad to read further in, that you got over yourselves.
@ TOY: i love you, man! you know that. and now sit down on your couch and smoke a reefer ^_^
@ Mister Q.: don't even think about leaving roto! THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! + where is the snapshot of your new addition?
@ Dan: ditto! i come to roto as well to relax and smile and cream my pants over all those pretty toys!
NOW LETS ALL DO A GROUP HUG (with reach around if needed)

This is keegan from Trampt ...
Personally I feel the images on Trampt & Rotocasted aren't 'owned' by either. Generally they're from manufacturers or artists with some exceptions here & there and we leave room for people to get credit for the photos they take. I've definitely grabbed images from here, and I know images I've personally dropped the backgrounds out of have ended up here as well. I think this cross-over not only helps the community, but also the artists who get new fans by collectors stumbling upon their work on our sites.
Honestly I didn't even know MisterQuiche was a mod here, and I personally don't care if he does both. There are no big trade secrets being exposed here ... this isn't life and death, it's collecting toys and it should be fun. :) -

Hi guys. I haven't been around much lately, but it's more due to lack of money than to lack of love. I've personally interacted with Sergey, Keegan and Quiche, and they are all great people.
I guess if I could turn back the clock, I would have wished that instead of Keegan putting all his energy into establishing a 2nd similar network to Rotocasted, that the two teams (Trampt & Rotocasted) could have worked together on one killer database (Roto-trampt?). I'm not sure if that was ever something considered.
Funny enough, a couple years ago, *I* met with a programmer about starting a network like this. (It's a true story, and we were going to focus on trading dupes.) But as soon as I did my research, I found that Sergey already had a significant headstart with Rotocasted. Splintering the community seemed unnecessary, and there's that saying: "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." Well, I had no interest in (or money to put into) "beating" Rotocasted, so I offered to help Sergey instead.
Sergey has since become a great friend and guest at my house in California a couple times. In 2012, I may get to visit Moscow for the first time too. I'm not sure my rambling has a specific point. Just that in my experience, I have found the biggest gains from collaboration vs. competition. -

From a comment on NEVERCREW's Behance's SluggyP page:
"NEVERCREW: Hi there! Thank you for appreciating our "Sluggy P"!
For Den Kazarov: yes we know that the price could be high, but this is because of the work process to create it, the time and the materials (and it is also a limited series 50 & 50 pieces).
At the moment we're working on another series with different materials and process and the idea is to make it more cheap! :-) "

Good point Mr. Walrus. Maybe it was the flocking.

Yup, I guess the flocking might really be then that expensive.
Maybe someone with real knowledge of these things could comment on that? Would be interesting to know.

£130 is actually a reasonable price.Remember that it has to be sculpted, moulded, cast, seamed, painted ,flocked and then packed. All by hand, probably by one person.
Silicone is not cheap, nor is resin.
Flocking guns are pretty expensive, and the flocking itself can also be pricey as you usually have to buy it in bulk.So labour plus material costs can easily add up.Plus of course ,the artist would like to make a profit! :)

oh maquette, i am with you on this!!! COMPLETELY! i know myself how expensive it is to make resin toys :(
i just said this, so the where to buy links can be removed. for no other reason. or were you explaining yourself towards the comments from last month?

Yes Ms SillyK,
I just thought a word about how much it actually costs an artist to make these things would be appropriate. I'm not saying that £130 is not a lot of money, but for a hand made limited edition, non mass-produced peice of art it is actually pretty good value. I'm speaking as a fellow sculptor and toy maker. :)

i am actually glad, you brought this topic back up!
it really seems, like the time effort, mass produced vs handmade toys and material costs don't often get considered by everyone.

Its very true, most people dont consider it.
Having said that, when I'm buying a toy my main concern is wether or not i can afford it.I understand people thinking they are expensive, but thats just life!
I like your owls btw :)
