-

I dunno, a Dunny was one of my first toys and I hold an effection for them.
i think Tristan Eaton did a brilliant job on the design and it's one of the best Platforms out there -

If KR are allowing Ryniak to edit the form to require new tooling, I would have liked something a bit better. Still, I would love to have this little guy.

I don't hate Dunnys as they keep the whole scene going. But artistically,I would always prefer to see a new form.Economically though, that's not always possible. :)

I also prefer original sculpts, but I think for sure there's a place for platform figures in our world.
It may have gotten out of hand at some point but these figures have a viable asthetic. If the shape is good and maliable enough (which I think the Dunny is) it provides an interesting canvas for artists.
For me the interesting aspect is having a bunch lined up together to compare the ways artists used the shaped and how they worked with it and transformed it. -

lordsketch hit the nail on the freakin head... to me it has almost nothing to do with the toy and everything to do with how the individual artists handle it. A couple of years ago Tenacious Toys put on an art show where artists used empty deodorant bottles to make pieces... the results were amazing, and it was really interesting how each artist approached the base in a totally different way.

Some of the Japanese stuff can go for insane amounts but they generally never see the light of day on this side of the water.

I could see why a Coarse would demand such a high payment. The quality and finish, plus their attention to detail must make them very pricey to produce. :)

I'm totally getting one of these monster dogs. Did you ever watch the movie? It's Tim Burton's first. And Vincent Price is doing the voice over. :)

Jan! You've been inhaling too much vinyl! Burton's first solo directed film was in 1982 - Vincent, that was stop-motion with Vincent Price doing the voice over.
This dog is from his film Frankenweenie,it was originally a live-action short from 1984.This version is from the 2012 stop-motion remake! :) Which features a Vincent Price lookalike puppet! :) -
