I think it's just a Kidrobot toy that's black. Not part of the series.
-
Nope, it's part of ther series.
-
Gotta agree with Shank - it's not part of the black series, it's just a black version of the pigeon.

Yes, agreed. this isn't Kidrobot Black.

This is weird because it's not part of the official KR Black releases, but KR and Staple did a collab on some apparel and they released this toy to go with it. I'm not sure if it's the black version of KRxStaple or the Staple version of KR Black. I still think it doesn't go with the series but I can see how someone would.

Francis Bacon wrote Hamlet, and actually William Shakespeare painted this:

I think JPK was referring to the other Francis Bacon the British artist popular in the 40's and 50's.

Yeah I know. The link is to one of his paintings. I guess that was me being funny.

My bad, humour lost over the internet problem. I didn't even click the link. My knowledge on fine art is little to non-existent!

Library is a mess as usual. Surely Sket should be the artist on this?.....
-

Couldn't agree more. And surely the manufacturer on this should be a little stranger especially as she hand made it!

Theres an "ART" type tag now, what justifies one item being any more "ART" than another?

Good question. Besides the occasional clock/bobble head/ what have you, I consider most of the pieces on Rotocasted to be "art" one way or another.
-
Exactly, art is in the eye of the beholder. To me, this isn't art, but if someone else thinks it is, then thats awesome.
The tags need to be narrowed down, and made into a selection you can choose from, as opposed to typing what you damn like. -
12 years ago
what other 'types' are there? i thought just about anything on here was considered an 'art' toy... hell, that's the only justification i have when i buy my toys..

There is a statue type, which seems just fine for this guy.
-

What makes this anymore a statue than a 16" KAWS toy?
-
- angel
-

I think a base gives it a statue vibe, and this one has a base even if it's incorporated into the design. A 5YL Kaws still has the look of a toy that could be played with, and I don't think this does. But I'm sure we could find examples of items that challenge that definition.

no need for a fuss.
This is a custom. We have a label for customs which we always use. -

i agree with shankweather, but jazzy does have a good point as well. glad to see it got the right label sorted out though.

Actually I think it's a one-off. ;)
-

custom, one-off, one of one, custom made. take your pick;)
with that said, this figure is flippin sweet. dont have any doc a stuff, but i can see myself collecting some at one point in time down the road. -

A custom what?

we were talking about the 'type'

I believe Dan is saying this can't be a custom because there is no platform. The custom/one-off debate has been ongoing.
-
oh.. i see.
-
Can't be a custom unless it started as something else. Other wise its just a designer toy and the quantity is 1
-

-

@HonestCrooks:
he is either trying to suck his weewee and since he is half man, half donkey, he might even succeed...
or second option is, he really enjoys sniffing his own farts...
it's obvious, isn't it?! ;) -

@SillyK:
I wasn't talking about the piece itself :D I was referring to the long waiting time of this one :D
But no problem, in the meantime we've had our good shares of updates on this guy ;-)
But thank you for your awesome personal and very literal interpretation of this piece :D -

$1200.00?
Really? :-S
So you are trying to make a profit of 600$ on a piece you don't even have in hand or haven't seen in person? -

-

I was hoing to keep it originally.I have someone interested. And yes I am trying to make a profit obviously..it would be $500 profit or less. We know it wasn't a piece everyone could have ordered. I have many pieces I have never been disappointed I don't need to see it in person.

@We know it wasn't a piece everyone could have ordered@
Yeah, we know that.. because of you and other people who trying to make money this way) Get a normal job) -
11 years ago
It's cool when you can sell an item years down the track for a profit but to buy a piece with the intention to sell it right away for a profit is just not cool in my book.
-
Look no one is telling you to buy it and pay more. This is the first piece I have to sell I did not buy it with intent to sell it. I am now selling it and trying to make a profit for personal reasons. How about you get a life instead of insulting people.
-
If you are buying this piece, you must be well aware that that people have a negative view of flippers. Your response is perfectly valid and it's a shame you have to sell such a piece. Yet, is that last line really necessary?
-
In a close community as the Coarse collectors, you can't really hope that people would appreciate this sale. You, feeling proud enough to say you're "obviously" making profit isn't gonna help it neither...
It's a shame that people like you even have the chance to get such a piece. I say this as a collector and no personal offense intended, but I really hope that they will find out who you are, that your pre-order gets cancelled and the toy will go to a real collector who loves this art as art, not as a money machine...
And we're not insulting people, we're "protecting our grounds" as collectors against flippers... -
11 years ago
I love my coarse pieces and am to attached to the ones I have. Like I've said before there is unfortunate personal reasons that I am having to flip this toy. It is the one I chose to flip because there is no attachment yet. I have never flipped a piece but I just put 1200 be ause others have sold there's at that or less. The buyer and I actually agreed to a much lesser price(since everyone is so bothered by my flip I am sharing that).I am not proud what so ever to be flipping it I said "obviously" because I was being sarcastic in replying to a comment. I love my collection and its sad that so many fellow collectors feel the need to bash me and calling it protecting.

dumb question, if you buy these are you supposed to open them?
-
Never!! Its Art! The card is better than the figure!
Seriously though, they come off pretty easy, so I guess its personal preference. There just on with a little bit of cello-tape. -
12 years ago
I wish that carded Art figures like this had a slide in/out front, so that you could take them out without damaging the card. Sucklord should get on that shit.
-
thanks for that info dan! i was thinking about picking up the 10 d con buff mini flavors but wasnt sure if things packaged like this should be opened or not (and also dont have any money).. although i still would have opened it up either way, i think this would look super weird with a bunch of other opened up figs..
but IMO, i think the box or packaging is about as worthless as the paper/carboard its made from, all i really care about is the figure/toy. (i think its funny when people get all worked up over a box/packing) -
12 years ago
moody doom,
great idea, seen it on a few thinks packaged like this before, makes you wonder why you dont see it a lot? maybe they just dont want you openeing it at all.
did you open yours? -

Do not try and remove the art. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth: there is no art.
-
to art or not to art that is the question
-
@bbxx2334 - no way in hell i'm opening this one. : )
For me, ice cream toys can only be served with a good dose of titties and heavy metal.
losing the packaging would subtract all the wonderful buffness from this piece.
There's no right or wrong though man. Whatever impulse is strongest (to open to not open) just go with it and enjoy. -
12 years ago
i like the pictures and text on the background cardboard more than i like these figures themselfs... so i wont be buying any.. they just look really weird and kinda unoriginal to me, i just wanted to see if people open them or not... i think thats the other reason why i am super turned off by this kinda stuff, you open it to enjoy it for what it is, then it pretty much becomes worthless (in terms of $$$) just because you opened it. thanks for the explanation though!
