A one off piece I made for the handmade toy swap on SMYV.
Has a glossy wet look with clear resin water droplets. -

They are all pretty cool. Why so expensive? :( It's a rhetorical question.
-
Just curious which ones you're talking about? This isn't even for sale :) I don't think any of my stuff is expensive!
-
i was wondering that too...
Jazzy, in your wishlist eh. still time to make something for the swap and stand a shot a getting this ;) -
14 years ago
I find it surprising that many pieces are so cheap (in the general community) compared to the hours and materials put into their pieces.
-
Here here. surprisingly the hand made / small run ones are cheaper than the more mass produced big business ones. Perhaps the artists under value their work or they just ask for what it actually costs, cutting out the middle men? personally i dont mind, my preference is always to buy direct from the artist if possible.
-
For me personally, I hate to have stuff hanging around. I make so many pieces that unless I price them well I'd run out of storage space.
I don't even want to think about the time factor and how little I'm getting per hour! -
14 years ago
DMS I have an awesome idea for your next release, I'll email you :)
-
Now I'm intrigued mate!
-
I stand corrected, and I extend my apologies, DMS. My comment was naive, and it is no excuse, but I think I thought you designed some other toys that I found to be out of my price range....

So, humble foot pie. All up in my grill. -
14 years ago
I wouldn't call Cris Rose's toys expensive either. When you consider the cost of materials, and the time and effort that goes into them, Bargain! The fact they all sell out in minutes backs that up. Plus the designs are often far better than most production toys.

I thought it was a Vampire Rose knock-off at first.
-

You are not alone, I thought it was a custom rose at first!
The feet do it for me :)
I would like to see a clear version of this with the flames painted on the inside.

my bad :)
I like the dino but hate the bee in this set, guess i will give this a miss -
14 years ago
Yeah the Bees tail looks nowhere near as nice as the dino's.
-

The bees butt does look like a turd. Hopefully this set is reasonably priced.

$99,-... so who's still gonna get this ?

oh my starz... NINEY NINE DOLLAS???
-
Hahaha way too much. Maybe if the bee looked better. Sad though, I really like Wrecks : (
-
Wrecks is cool but I'd rather save my $99 and put it towards getting a Pico & Wilshire (which I still need--the price tag is just sooooo much).
-
I'm in, that Dino is awesome!! Not gonna rush though, as they are doing a run of 700, should be available for quite a while, so I will wait till I have a few pennies to drop.
-
talked with caswunn about this one earlier... 100 $ is a bit too expensive for me, as well and i really don't like the hornet at all... if they would sell only the dino, i'd buy it.

ok, now I need to know who sculpted stuff :D
It's amazing how little I know about the people who do the works behind the scenes. and the quality of the toy we're holding in our hands is basically based on their skill and artistry.
if anyone has info about toy sculptors please put it in the comments and I'll input it. thanks! -

Just in. My first Rose. What annoys me with this one is two tiny lines in the clear vinyl in the middle of his face.
-
-
Quality control seems a little more lax on this Rose than the other ones. I have all the production Rose Vamps, and so far the only one with a flaw has been this one--mine has a little drip of vinyl on the inside of his face, but it actually ends up looking like a tongue so I kind of like it.

yeah, i don't really feel this is a designer toy (yes i know it's made by kidrobot, but still)
discuss...

On one hand it's just a toy but it's also a toy by a designer toy company with the purpose of being customized by designers/artists so i think it fits!

It has nothing to do with Kidrobot, made by TYOTOYS.
I'd say its a designer toy, and fits. Although this is a DIY version.

I'm with Dan; definitely a designer toy as it's been produced specifically with customising in mind as well as reflecting graffiti's influence on the scene as a whole.

If you lived in New York you would see why these trucks are a big influence on graffiti they're everywhere in New York with graffiti all over the truck. Yes graffiti is part of the designer toy industry so making this truck relevant.

just picked one of these trucks up today.. and what I discovered was they have many different models of these trucks . my only complaint is I think the quality could have been a little better. but all in all I think it's pretty cool, especially that you can use a whiteboard marker on them and write anything you want and erase.

Thanks for the commentary guys, Kidrobot picked up a few units and sold online and in the NYC store.
